Install Image Alt Text Pro, go to the Without Alt Text tab, and click One-Shot Bulk. Choose your method — AI generation or free Copy Title/Filename — and the plugin processes your entire library automatically with a live progress bar. Keep the browser tab open while it runs. For future uploads, enable Auto-Add on Upload in Settings and every new image is handled automatically.
Your alt text stays — permanently. All alt text is saved directly to WordPress image metadata. It belongs to you regardless of your plan. Cancelling Pro only removes access to Pro features going forward, not any data you've already generated.
Only when you trigger AI generation. The image is sent to the API provider you've chosen (OpenAI, Gemini, etc.) to generate the description. No image data is ever stored on our servers. If privacy is a concern, use Copy Title or Copy Filename — those methods never leave your server at all.
